ABECS recognises the benefit to the community for the environmental friendly disposal of our members products. Currently Sth Australia and the Northern Territoty has Container Deposit Legislation (CDL), while the rest of Australia utilises a public 'collection point' system.
ABECS is aware of moves to introduce CDL type legislation into all states.  ABECS is concerned with the potential financial burden for our  members whose relatively small operations would face significant direct cost increases as well as the potential fall in demand for their products due to the added cost of the end product to the consumer.
ABECS will continue to work with the various parties involved towards a solution that can increase the consumers willingness to dispose of their containers in an environmentally friendly and effective way while not imposing and excessive cost burden on our members.

ABECS provides collective buying power opportunities for small to medium size enterprises' purchasing of production and packaging material.
